Ms Yuki Isogai

International Development Sustainability Partner at PwC, Japan

Ms Isogai is leading the International Development Team, Sustainability in PwC Japan. Her expertise covers CSV and SDGs business, inclusive business, ESG and responsible investment, and public private partnership. She serves both the public and private sectors, e.g. JICA, METI, IFC, in the public sector and retail and consumer, agriculture/food/beverage, healthcare, education and finance sectors in the private. Before joining PwC in 2011, she has worked at the World Bank, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and private companies in East Europe, South East Asia, South Asia and Africa. With her experience in and networks with Africa, Ms Isogai represents the Africa Desk at the PwC Japan.

Mr Maxwell Powers

Master of Ceremony and Narrator, USA

Mr Powers is a bilingual Master of Ceremony, narrator and voice actor active in Tokyo for over 10 years. Originally from Oakland, his voice is heard throughout Japan and beyond in countless commercials, movies and TV, company promotional videos, video games and more. For seven years, he took part in the NHK radio program, Kiso Eigo, as well as other NHK programs broadcast in 180 countries.

Mr Simon Susman

Non Executive Chairman of Woolworths, South Africa

Mr Susman was born in Tel Aviv, Israel in 1950 and spent his childhood in South Africa. He moved to London in 1971 and worked in various positions for Marks & Spencer, eventually becoming personal assistant to Lord Sieff, the Chairman. In 1982, Mr Susman returned to Woolworths in South Africa where he architected and built the Woolies’ Food business. He further held a number of top executive positions in the group before becoming Chief Executive in 2000. In 2003 he took over the chairmanship of Woolies’ Australian subsidiary, Country Road. Within Woolworths, Mr Susman instigated and drove a comprehensive programme entitled the “Good business journey”. Through this programme, the Group continually strives to do business in a way that is deeply sustainable both socially and environmentally. During his 10 year period as CEO, the share price rose from R2.60 to over R26.00, strongly reinforcing his view that a business, deeply rooted in values and passionately delivering on sustainability, can bring real value to all stakeholders. Mr Susman is currently Chairman of the Woolworths Group; the London based Virgin Active fitness business; and the Dubai based Al Tayer Retail Board. Woolworths holding is a leading retail group with a strong presence in South Africa, 11 countries in sub‑Saharan Africa, Australia and in New Zealand, under the banners Woolworths, WSA, David Jones and Country Road.
